Brewing Day 8: Short Day

Today, I went into the brewery in the morning to help out with a few transfers and kegging that needed to get done. I’m gaining confidence in washing, prepping, filling kegs, as well as testing brite beer. I’m getting a feel for taking Zahn measurements and tracking things like gravity and carbonation as they apply to commercial scale brewing.

A few takeaways for the day are…

  • I REALLY wish that I had plumbed CO2 around my home brewery like they have at Joyride. For all the uses of CO2, this is extremely convenient.
  • With that CO2, a walk-in cooler, and some 9-12″ carbonation stones, beer is carbonated really quickly! I am certainly taking some things in mind for how to setup things in the garage to make more streamlined for brewing.
